WEED–Feather River ran into good College of Siskiyous pitching in game one and then got the bats going in the nightcap to earn a split on the road.
The Eagles bested the Golden Eagles in the first game 3-2 and FRC bounced back in game two, 11-1. Feather River is now 19-2 in Golden Valley Conference play and 27-9 overall. Siskiyous improved to 11-24 on the season and to 5-16 in the GVC.
The visitors managed just six hits in the opener, all singles. FRC jumped out to a 2-0 lead through two and half innings of play on a sacrifice fly and a bases loaded walk, with both RBI going to Legend Lancaster. But that would be the extent of the scoring for FRC.
Marcus Maeder was the hard-luck loser, going all eight innings and allowing just four hits, three walks and he struck out 10. Walker DesRosier had three of FRC’s six hits.
The day changed after the break between games. The Golden Eagles scored in each of the first six innings to build the 11-1 lead through six. Nick Anderson had a three-run triple in the second inning and Isaiah Mezger hit a two-run homer in the third.
Jake Dahl went 3-for-3 with four RBI. Anderson had the triple and a stolen base and Mezger also had two hits.
Feather River used seven different pitchers in a bullpen game.
The Golden Eagles return to play this Friday and Saturday in a split location series–at Lassen on Friday at 2 pm and will host Lassen on Saturday at 1 pm.
