A Westwood man dies following a collision involving a semi on Highway 99 in Sutter County.
The Yuba Sutter CHP office says on Sunday, around noon, a semi-driver from Stockton was stopped on the highway and attempted to speed up to make a left turn back onto the roadway. His truck went directly in the path of a Toyota Tacoma driven by 30-year-old Steven Tadeo of Westwood. His truck became wedged underneath the 53-foot trailer, killing him instantaneously.
The driver of the Semi has cooperated with law enforcement, who say drugs or alcohol were not factors in the collision. The deadly collision closed the highway for two hours; officers are investigating the incident and seeking witnesses.
