Susanville’s Elks Lodge rescinds ARPA funding and the City will look to give the Symphony more.
This Wednesday the council will consider allocating an additional 30,000 dollars of American REscue Plan Act funds to the Susanville Symphony to develop a business plan for the Performing Arts Center.
In August, an ad hoc committee was formed to help the ARPA fund recipients set up agreements for those getting a portion of the funds. Discussions regarding the performing arts center project led to a desire for a business consultant to prepare a viable business plan for the performing arts center at an estimated cost not exceeding $30,000.
The Elks Lodge told Lassen News they had declined to receive the 100,000 dollars to fix their iconic building on top of Main Street because they will be selling the building soon, finding taking the money would be “disingenuous.”
The council meets on Wednesday, October 2 at 5 pm. This item along with the full agenda can be found on the City’s website.
