The Susanville police department says to Make this holiday season memorable by celebrating responsibly with a “Go Safely” game plan.

What started on December 13, the Susanville Police Department joined the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign, recognizing the dangers of impaired driving.

National statistics reveal that in December of 2021, over 1,000 lives were lost in alcohol-related crashes.

To ensure safety, extra officers will patrol until New Year’s Day, actively seeking drivers under the influence. This high-visibility effort emphasizes responsible choices, urging people to stay in or plan a sober ride.

The police department would like to remind the community that impairment isn’t limited to alcohol; marijuana or medications can also affect driving, and urges you to prioritize safety and make this a joyous season for everyone on the road.
