The Susanville Police Department will make the streets in town safer through a 50,000 dollar grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
Chief Cochran said the funding supports ongoing traffic safety efforts in the community with the intent to stop the most unlawful and dangerous behaviors that put people at risk”.
The department will use the funds to place more officers on the street for impaired driving patrols and to catch violators of the hands-free cell phone law, in addition to community and officer educational training.
The funding will help in these efforts through September of next year.
