Susanville Fire Department responds to another fire near Carroll Street.

On July 28, 2024, at approximately 8:17 PM, the Susanville Fire Department (SFD) responded to a reported grass fire behind a house at 370 Carroll Street, which posed a potential threat to nearby structures.

Upon arrival, a 30-foot by 80-foot fire was seen spreading slowly. A progressive hose line was deployed and successfully halted the fire’s forward progression. CalFire created a handline around the fire’s perimeter, while Susanville E-628 established a water supply and assumed pumping operations.

An investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing, with photos being collected and interviewing witnesses.

Additionally during the incident, Chief 600 responded to a separate smoke check on Richmond Road, discovering a resident burning in a barrel, which is illegal in California.
