The Local Area Revitalization Project Co-Op announces that the Susanville Farmers Market may face its final season at Pancera Plaza in Historic Uptown Susanville. During the May 7th City Council meeting, it was decided that starting in 2026, the City will no longer provide free support services essential for the market’s operation. Instead, the Farmers Market will be charged for City staff time related to street closures, police presence, and lighting during night markets.
These new costs, estimated between $2,000 and $6,000 per season, are unsustainable for a small market without significantly increasing vendor fees, which the Co-Op is committed to avoiding. The mission of LARP Cooperative is to support local farmers, ranchers, and small businesses, not to impose financial burdens on them.
For 2025, the City of Susanville has agreed to support one more season at Pancera Plaza, and the team looks forward to welcoming the community. They are actively seeking a new location for 2026 and encourage anyone with potential hosting opportunities to reach out.
Community members are urged to contact their representatives on the Susanville City Council to voice their opinions on this issue. The LARP Cooperative is dedicated to fostering economic development for small businesses and aims to ensure the continued success of this cherished community event.
