A clean California Grant will open an opportunity for Susanville to improve the Susan River Bike Trail.
The grant will provide funding to repave one and a quarter miles of the trail and add benches, trash, recycling cans, litter prevention signs, and solar lights. The City will hold a community event to clean up the litter along the walk. This project is in an effort to help people use the trail more and bring in tourists and money to the City. It will also aim to make the community healthier and reduce pollution. The first action the City must take is to give staff the authority to sign an agreement with Caltrans should it be awarded.
This step is an application to Caltrans; if the City is approved for the grant, the decision to accept will be brought back to Council.
