Be ready to see smoke throughout the Lassen National Forest as prescribed fire burn projects will begin across all three Ranger districts this spring.
In the Hat creek ranger district, crews will focus on completing 300 acres in Old Station near Bainbridge and Twin Bridges and up to 1000 acres on the Eastside Underburn near the reservoir. In Old Station and Hat Creek communities, you can expect light residual smoke in the morning and evening following burns.
The Eagle lake ranger district will focus in the Bogard work center and Pine Creek Valley area. Burns will take place along county road A-21 near the 44 intersection, in the Bailey Meadow Restoration Project. This will be divided into 12 units completing over 1700 acres. Expect smoke in the Eagle Lake Basin and Pine Creek Valley.
The Almanor Ranger district will complete projects near Ponderosa Way and in the Boondocks community. You will see crews burn 160 acres around Panther SPrings and Boondocks. An additional 200 acres will be burned in the Almanor Basin near Feather River Homesites. Smoke will be visible through Chester, Boondocks, and Warner Valley.
The burns will be completed as weather allows, under a set prescription focused on individual objectives in each unit.
