The incoming storm may not bring as much snowfall as predicted, but the storm door remains wide open. The Reno National weather service says they are scaling back their higher-end snow predictions for Lassen and Plumas Counties. Though meteorologists are still expecting the heaviest snow will generally fall along the Sierra for about 9-12 hours, resulting in another 1-2 feet along the crest.
Be Prepared for high winds with this storm as well which could limit travel along US395 for high-profile vehicles. The CHP has issued a wind advisory as of 4am Winds are expected to top 65 mph in the most prone areas. By midweek the storm fizzles out, but you can count on temperatures to remain about 5-10 degrees below average.
Models also continue to indicate that the storm door won’t be closing as we round out the month; another system may be bringing in April showers.
