A wildland fire near Highway 70 prompted evacuations in Concow late yesterday afternoon, a reminder that fire season is upon the region.
Forward spread was stopped however as of this afternoon CalFIRE is reporting 50% containment at 10 acres, with all evacuations lifted.
The department’s fire status report indicates the Ranch fire consists of 21 separate fires burning in a remote location with difficult access on the uppermost arm of the Lake Oroville State Recreational Area.
No cause has been determined. Mopping and containment continue, with 75 personnel attending the fire until it is 100% contained.
