Red Kettle Campaign Kicks Off with Success

Susanville’s Salvation Army has made significant progress toward its $32,000 fundraising goal in just four days of bell ringing, collecting nearly $2,000. The red kettles appeared in local stores on November 18th.

This year, the challenge is greater for the local Salvation Army, as they take on supporting 300 to 400 more children in the County along with the Holiday with a Hero initiative due to the recent closure of the Toys for Tots program.

Carla McDonald, the Salvation Army Coordinator, emphasizes that those who previously participated in the Toys for Tots have until the extended deadline of November 24th to apply for the Angel Tree Program.

Families seeking assistance for Christmas are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline by contacting Carla at 257-0314. Angel tree tags are available at various locations, including Golden 1, Wal-Mart, Margie’s Book Nook, and our radio station office.

Red Kettle Bell Ringers will be at major retailers throughout the season. If you can help with donations of candy canes, you can drop those off at the Salvation Army offices in the Grocery Outlet shopping center.
