A week down to under single patrol vehicles for the county of Plumas, Sheriff Todd Johns says it will only get worse.
During a January board meeting, the sheriff announcing the department’s status to the board of supervisors said it’s been unfathomable. Johns says he understands the community’s concerns over the announcement but wants to see homes and property protected as much as possible. Calls have already taken over an hour to respond to. Calls have taken a priority status within the county.
Johns says the solution remains in the county’s hands to increase wages, but until the last two years’ budget audits can be completed, when that will happen remains unclear.
