It was an unfortunate scene stumbled upon by Plumas Search and Rescue.
The search and rescue team says they received a call for a missing person in the Red Clover Valley area—a steep ravine below Beckwourth Genesee Rd. near Lake Davis—just before 10 p.m. last evening after the family said they had not returned for an extended period of time.
Once in the area, SAR located tracks and found there had been an unfortunate ATV riding accident.
Quincy CHP has identified the person involved as 67-year-old Scott Thompson of Beckwourth. Thompson was riding his ATV on Mohagany Hill when the incident occurred.
Thoughts and prayers have been extended to family and friends.

It was an unfortunate scene stumbled upon by Plumas Search and Rescue.
Plumas SAR says just before 10 pm, the team received a call for a missing person in Red Clover Valley—a steep ravine below Beckwourth Genesee rd. Once in the area, SAR located tracks and found there had been an ATV riding accident where, unfortunately, the driver succumbed to injuries.
The rider’s identity has not been released.
