Plumas National Forest provides updates regarding the ongoing pile-burning activities in the Beckwourth Ranger District.
Despite the weekend passing by, firefighters remained busy in the Lakes Basin area of the district. The conditions were favorable for prescribed burning, enabling firefighters to continue their work on pile burning. Over the weekend, a total of 59 acres were successfully burned, with 17 acres on Friday, 23 acres on Saturday, and 19 acres on Sunday. The piles consumed quickly, meeting and exceeding the objectives in the prescription.
As the weather is expected to return to spring-like temperatures, burn projects are likely to be extended into the week. You can expect to see smoke in the area.
Over on the Feather River Ranger District, crews completed 10 acres of pile burning on Friday on Mooreville Ridge, located above Sly Creek Reservoir. Patrols continued throughout the weekend to monitor the area.
