🔥 The first day of the 6th annual Plumas Cal-TREX is underway! Over 70 participants gathered in Quincy, CA to kick off a week of training and learning opportunities. Beyond learning practical fire skills and related fire safety measures, this week participants will broaden their perspectives on: ecosystem health and fire-dependent vegetation; identifying safe conditions for prescribed fire; and strengthening community resilience by incorporating time-honored Indigenous knowledge and techniques for fire management.
🔥 This TREX brings together multiple partners, highlighting the many benefits associated with collaboratively managing public and private lands for fire resiliency. Plumas Cal-TREX is an all-hands-on-deck approach to building fire experience and addressing fire safety concerns proactively.
🔥 Participants and organizers spent today with team-building exercises and practicing hose lays, UTV operation, and firing techniques. As the week progresses, depending on weather conditions, the group may be burning at several predetermined locations throughout Plumas County. More updates will be available on this page.
