Quincy, CA – Plumas Arts is set to launch a new community-centered art event, the Honeycomb Collective Art Show, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Plumas Arts Gallery. The exhibition will open its doors to the public at 5:00 p.m.
The show features a collaborative installation composed of over 145 hexagonal wooden canvases, each uniquely designed by members of the local community. Together, these “honeycombs” create a large-scale art piece that highlights the talent, diversity, and community spirit of Plumas County.
The initiative is spearheaded by the new team at Plumas Arts, who aim to create an inclusive event that unites people through art, regardless of their skill level or background. Executive Director Christopher Rouse Islas Hernandez expressed, “Art is an incredible medium for connection. No matter our background or perceived differences, we can all come together and enjoy beauty.”
The organization hopes to establish the Honeycomb Collective Art Show as an annual event, with aspirations to eventually expand it countywide. “When the combs started coming in, I was in awe of the talent around us. It’s inspiring,” Hernandez added.
Running from February 7 to February 28, 2025, the exhibition’s opening reception will coincide with the First Friday series, a monthly event held from February through December. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while engaging with artists and fellow art enthusiasts.
