As you plan your three day weekend the U.S. Forest Service is reminding you that there still is a healthy amount of snow within the national forestlands. You should plan to be prepared for snow despite the warmer temperatures in lower elevations. Your vehicle should be snow ready, bring chains, a shovel, and blankets for emergencies. Getting stranded in good weather is always a possibility when there is heavy snow on forest service roads and county roads alike. In addition the forest service reminds you to not rely heavily on GPS, reminding you that secondary road conditions are likely worse than a primary route even if your GPS states that the road is open. Use good judgment while out recreating in the forests this weekend.
