Plumas National Forest Officials say pile burns will resume this week as weather conditions allow. Operations will be in various locations across the Beckwourth and Mount Hough ranger districts.
Firefighters will aim to treat around 50 acres of machine piles near Frenchman Lake and about 32 acres of piles, including hand and large machine piles, at locations including Quarry Road, Greenville Campground, and Gansner Bar Work Center.
Officials add although smoke will be visible, significant long-term impacts on nearby communities, including Quincy and Greenville, are not expected.
You could encounter smoke impacts to your drive along highways 70 and 89 and neighboring forest roads.
Firefighters will closely monitor smoke impacts on Highway 70 and could set up traffic controls if necessary. If there are gusty winds, operations will be stopped.
