PG&E is planning to begin a project for the undergrounding of its infrastructure along State Route 299 in the Monument Fire footprint bringing more delays to your summer travel.
Undergrounding efforts will take place along SR 299 near Burnt Ranch, from just east of Mill Creek Road to about 1 mile west of Big French Creek Bridge.
Construction is currently planned to start next Tuesday, July 11th. Once construction efforts begin, you should plan for 24/7 traffic control with 15-minute delays, Mondays – Fridays during daytime hours, and up to 45-minute delays overnights and weekends. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.

Other areas of undergrounding work include near Paynes Creek on SR 36, Highway 70 in Plumas County at Bucks Creek from Tobin to Belden, greys flat west of Twain, and between the Greenville wye and Keddie.
You can also see undergrounding efforts along SR89 between Canyon Dam and Grenville and near Indian Falls and Moccasin.
You can expect additional delays along SR 299 this summer. If Headed from Pittville to Bieber, you can plan to add 15 minutes to your travel time.
Caltrans District 2 and Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. began a chip seal project today that will last through August. The project will place an asphalt rubber chip seal with isolated areas of concrete dig-outs on the State Route near McArthur, from Pittville Totten Road to the Pit River Overflow Bridge.
From Monday through Friday through August, you can expect one-way traffic controls during daytime hours; waits are expected to be up to 15 minutes.
