Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will begin repair work along Highway 70 near the Greenville Wye this week as part of ongoing efforts to address damage from the 2021 Dixie Fire. Motorists can expect delays in the area.
This project, known as the Gansner Project, will run concurrently with Caltrans’ ongoing work in the region and is expected to have similar closure zones.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, PG&E is undergrounding approximately 1.7 miles of the Gansner 1101 12 kV Line between Paxton and Spanish Creek Campground within the Plumas National Forest. This project involves trenching and boring along the midline of State Route 70, at depths ranging from 42 to 110 inches and widths of 24 inches.
These power lines were severely damaged during the Dixie Fire, and current efforts aim to improve the resilience and reliability of the area’s power infrastructure.
Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and follow all traffic control measures for their own and the workers’ safety.
