Getting the urge to get outdoors for camping season, PG&E announces that most campgrounds are set to open before the Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer for many.
The exception is the Last Chance Creek campground and group site, which will remain closed through the season as the sites continue to be impacted by recent wildfires.
A few highlights of those opening in early May include the Canyon Dam Boat Launch Day Use area, expected to open on May 4th, and the Rocky Point Campground on Lake Alamanor, which is set to open on the 10th, with the north and south Rocky Point campgrounds opening by May 31st.
All others are slated to open by mid to late May.
The campgrounds located around Philbrook Lake are the only sites with pending opening dates due to the amount of snow around the lake.
