The park fire has now consumed over 100,000 acres of the Lassen National Forest. Activity is increasing on the northeast edge of the blaze.
Increased fire activity in the Mill Creek drainage continues to push the fire closer to Mineral. Updates from Calfire received around 10 pm indicated that the fire had crossed Highway 172, where Fire Crews made efforts to try to keep the fire from spreading.
Additionally, according to The Lookout’s Zeke Lunder, radio traffic reported that around 3 pm Tuesday, firefighters had to pull out further down hwy 172 near Mill Creek Resort due to the unsafe conditions of the fire; however, it has been unconfirmed, but it is believed the resort survived as the fire passed through. Engines are staged with crews to protect the area.
Due to this increased activity in the fire’s northeast corner, the Plumas County Sheriff’s have modified Plumas Zone 40 into an A and B and issued Evacuation Warning status for PLU-040-A and PLU-002-A.
These zones are in the approximate area of:
NORTH OF Humboldt Rd
SOUTH OF Chester Warner Valley Rd
EAST OF Hwy 36 and the Feather River
WEST OF Plumas County Line
Zone 001 remains in a warning status
Plumas zone 40 B has been reduced from a warning to normal status. This applies to areas North of Concow Road and Howells Road, South of California Highway 36, and West of California Highway 89 and Seneca Road.
The Park Fire has burned 420,827 acres total and is 34% contained.
CALFIRE Update
Situation Summary
CAL FIRE:
The Park fire remained active overnight due to poor humidity recovery, exhibiting uphill runs and intense fire behavior. It will continue to burn actively, moving to the north and east, ascending slopes with critically dry fuel.
Today, thick smoke will keep temperatures slightly cooler and increase humidity over active parts of the fire until later this afternoon.
Crews continue to battle high heat and deep drainages, engaging the fire offensively where safe to do so.
A weather system is expected to move into the area later in the week, bringing an increase in humidity.
Some evacuation warnings have been upgraded in the area east of Mill Creek. Repopulation is also occurring in the lower portion of the fire. Please remain diligent as crews and equipment are working in those areas. Stay alert as evacuation updates remain dynamic.
Lassen National Forest:
