Upper Bidwell Park, East of Chico, California

The Park Fire, which started on July 24, 2024, continues to rage through Upper Bidwell Park in Butte and Tehama counties. The wildfire, which is believed to be caused by arson, has rapidly grown to 164,286 acres with zero containment as of this morning.

134 structures destroyed

34 civilian injuries
13 firefighter injuries:
0 civilian fatalities & firefighter fatalities

The Park Fire is burning vigorously, particularly when it aligns with slopes and winds, leading to quick fire spread and spotting. A Red Flag Warning is in affect due to gusty winds and low humidity, exacerbating the fire conditions. The fire is consuming grass, brush, mixed timber, and dead vegetation.
