The Susanville Police Department was awarded a $50,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).

The grant aims to reduce serious injuries and deaths on the roads by focusing on areas such as distracted driving, impaired driving, and speeding. This will be accomplished by supporting patrols targeting impaired drivers, high-visibility distracted driving enforcement, and operations addressing dangerous driver behaviors.

Additionally, the grant will facilitate community presentations on traffic safety issues, collaborative efforts with neighboring agencies, and officer training/recertification programs.

The grant program is set to continue until September 2024 and is provided through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
