The Eagle Lake Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest is looking to add a new trail system on Fredonyer. With title II funding the district proposes to create a trail for hiking, mountain bicycling, and horse riding near fredonyer butte. The trail would be a series of loops 24.5 miles long with two trailheads, with a parking area and informational kiosk located near goumaz campground. A scoping period on the project has been opened for your commenting that accounts for any issues you may have on the plan or what effects the new trail system could bring. Your written comments need to be in by next Wednesday. Those can be emailed or written, and you can visit the Eagle Lake Ranger District Office on Eagle Lake Road for more information. Following the commenting period the project will then move into the National Environmental Policy Act process.
