A new date has been set for the Lassen Jr. Fishing Derby after the well-loved event was forced to be pushed back due to dangerous river flows due to this winter’s immense snowpack.
The Lassen Sportsman Club Chairperson Wade Workman, on the Derby committee, says a date later in the year has been selected “to avoid conflicts with previously scheduled events” and has also considered input from the local CDFW Fisheries Biologist and the Desert Springs Fish Hatchery as water temperatures needed to be considered in the survival of the planted fish.
The 2023 Jr. Fishing Derby date has been set for September 30th.
