With the outdoor recreation season in full swing, the Modoc National Forest says many campgrounds remain without water due to the lingering snowpack that delayed site clean-up and restoration. The forest service warns campers to bring your own water, enough to supply you through your stay, apologizing for the inconvenience. Yet, as repairs are completed, updates on the water availability at the campgrounds wills be updated. You can contact the U.S. Forest Service for any concerns or questions at 530-233-5811.
In Plumas, the forest service says more campsites opened at Little Grass Valley Reservoir over the weekend, while others at Bucks Lake remain closed. Hazardous trees continue to delay the openings; this includes Little Beaver Campground at Little grass valley and many sites at Bucks Lake, where water system and maintenance problems are also an issue.
If headed towards Antelope Lake, Antelope Lake Road is closed on weekdays for the culvert replacement and road repairs project.
In the Feather River Canyon, some campgrounds are closed due to landslides. Exercise caution around water as temperatures are colder than usual, posing a risk of hypothermia and safety hazards. The recent hot weather has increased the risk of wildfires, so it is important to prevent human-caused fires, even though there are no current fire restrictions in place.
