CAL FIRE’s Lassen-Modoc Unit is collaborating with various agencies on agricultural and timber understory burn projects that will bring smoke impacts to nearby communities through October 19th. Operations began Sunday to reduce timber understory north of Eagle Lake, improve habitat in Bieber, reduce fuels on agricultural land in Standish, and reduce timber understory west of Quincy.

Smoke will be seen north of Eagle Lake through Wednesday. CalFire has partnered with the BLM to reduce over 300 acres of timber understory.

Starting today in Bieber, CAL FIRE is working with Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) on a 400-acre habitat improvement project at the Ash Creek Wildlife Area.

Also, beginning today, you will see smoke from Standish on the Dow Ranch near Mapes Rd and Dill Slough. The ag burn aims to reduce 37 acres.

By Thursday, CALFIRE will assist the Plumas Ntl Forest, Plumas Understory, and the Plumas Underburn Cooperative to reduce 146 acres of timber understory near Spanish Ranch and Meadow Valley. Smoke will be visible West of Quincy.

You are asked not to report it, as the smoke in these areas throughout the week is part of controlled, intentional burning efforts.
