More Money Needed for Historic Courthouse Renovation Project

In addition to a packed agenda highlighting CDFW presentations, the Lassen Board of Supervisors has scheduled a discussion on increasing the courthouse’s budget.

Today’s agenda says more funds are needed to complete the architectural planning of the project that started in 2018. The county received an 8.5 million dollar budget secured with the help of Assemblyman Brian Dahle. Yet that has not cut it with the increasing costs of materials, wages, and time it has taken to complete the project.

Another 100,000 dollars is being requested to pay Lionakis, the project architect, to complete the tenant improvements, some of the final steps in completing the courthouse. Per county staff, funding is available within the current 2023/2024 Fiscal Year County Budget. Expenditures would be paid out of Courthouse Square Construction Fund/Budget.

The supervisors regularly meet at 9 a.m. on Nevada Street in Susanville. The county’s website has today’s full agenda.
