Modoc National Forest lends a helping hand by dispatching additional fire resources to aid Canada in its ongoing fight against devastating wildfires. The move comes as Canada continues to battle raging infernos that have been consuming vast swathes of its wilderness.
Modoc’s National Forest Engine 355, will join a larger federal strike team assembled by the U.S. Forest Service Pacific SW Region 5. This strike team comprises five engines from the same agency and can be sourced from various forests nationwide.
Engine 355 joined the fight July 30th. The forest service says they are now gearing up to dedicate the next few weeks to assist their Canadian counterparts on the ground, striving to contain and extinguish the relentless flames.
The U.S. has maintained a wildfire cooperation arrangement with Canada since 1982 to ensure efficient resource sharing during peak fire activity between both countries.
