Another round of horse gathering will occur in early September in the Devil’s Garden Plateau Wild Horse Territory. A recent population count found over 1200 horses in the area that can appropriately support 200 to 400 horses. The Modoc National Forest and Cattoor Livestock roundups will be working together to complete the gathering using mechanical equipment and bait traps. The Forest Service asks you to avoid the area if you see a livestock corral in the forest. You do have an opportunity to view the gather by registering. The Forest Service will limit a total of 4 people per day during the gathering event that will take place Wednesday through Saturday. You can register by visiting the Modoc National Forest Service Website. The gathering begins on September 12th.
