Meadow Valley experienced a brief disruption Wednesday when a tree collided with a powerline along Silver Lake Road. The incident occurred as a contractor was conducting fuel reduction work for the Mount Hough Ranger District.

Promptly notified, PG&E responded swiftly to shut down power and repair the damaged line. The resulting outage lasted only a few hours from midafternoon to early evening, inconveniencing the local communities.

Thanks to the rapid mobilization of Meadow Valley Volunteer firefighters and U.S. Forest Service firefighters, the Bucks Fire, spanning just over a tenth of an acre, was swiftly contained within an hour.
Plumas OES commented that This is the third human-caused fire in the last two weeks and the second one this week alone.

This incident, though minor, underscores the importance of fire safety precautions, particularly as the region braces for drier conditions heading into summer. The Plumas National Forest expresses gratitude to all involved in the quick response.
