Susanville’s Mayor Mendy Schuster in response to the growing referendum on commercial cannabis grows in city limits asks for council support to bring the ordinance back to the council, yet gets denied. Only Pro Tem Councilman Brian Moore supported the request while Stafford and McCourt quickly voiced no votes, and Hererra responded with a case that the people have spoken and the majority want the industry here and bring it back to the council to place on the ballot will only incur more costs to the city. Commercial cannabis activity continues to further divide not only the community but the city council. If successful the referendum will need to collect a near 550 signatures in the next two weeks to force the council to repeal the ordinance or place it on the November ballot.
