With the Christmas season just around the corner, Lassen Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kelly Ackley addressed the Susanville City Council to secure approval for the street closure required for this beloved event.
Magical Country Christmas will take place on December 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. Main Street will be closed during these times from Cottage down to Weatherlow as hundreds are set to gather for the annual kick-off to the holiday festivities.
Ackley disclosed that the chamber is still seeking sponsors for the fireworks, which cost upwards of 5,000 dollars.
Councilmember Mendy Schuster offered to use the balance of her discretionary funds towards the cost. This will be revisited at the council’s next November meeting.
Magical Country Christmas is sure to be once again more than just an event but a tradition that brings the community together to usher in the season.
