Loyalton water woes continue, yet the City has lifted the outdoor water restrictions, putting homes on an alternating watering schedule.
Over the 4th of July weekend, when temperatures reached near triple digits for the first time this summer, the City said homes exceeded the capacity of the well pumps to maintain enough reserve levels and forced a complete halt to all outdoor watering until the wells could be restored. If in Loyalton, the City continues to urge you to recycle household water in your gardens, including reusing pasta water, dishwashing water using plant-friendly soaps, and collecting bath or shower water. Effective today homes will be allowed to water on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 pm and on Saturdays from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. No watering is permitted on Sundays, and you cannot wash your cars or allow runoff onto sidewalks, gutters, and streets.
The message is urgent as the City adds you could face fines if the schedule gets abused, and all outside watering could once again be restricted.
