Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD) moves forward with bringing power back to the controversial Hayden Hill Gold Mine transmission Line that runs through Surprise Valley. The line was installed for the sole use of the gold mine and had a condition to be taken down with the close of the mine. Lassen Gold mining Inc. closed in 2005. In 2007 LMUD bought the line in a supposedly rouge move that ultimately sent the case into court. Now nearly two decades later LMUDs general manager Pat Holly is trying to make right by LMUDs ratepayers by performing an Environmental impact review (EIR) to keep the line in place and avoid the over 1 million dollar price tag to remove it. If all goes well the EIR would cost LMUD and its ratepayers a smaller price tag of 300,000 dollars.
