HomeFeatured NewsLHS Students and Staff Invite Community to Decorate and Wear Purple and Gold for Homecoming WeekLHS Students and Staff Invite Community to Decorate and Wear Purple and Gold for Homecoming WeekMon, September 25, 2023SHARE NOW Homecoming week is here for Lassen High, and this year, the entire community is invited to join the festivities.Students and staff are urging everyone to share community pride by utilizing the City of Susanville’s Click&Fix app’s “We are Lassen” request category.This initiative aims to cultivate community pride by encouraging businesses and residents to decorate their surroundings with purple and gold decorations. Whether it’s colorful streamers, purple and gold flowers, supportive signs, or anything that reflects the community’s greatness.In the spirit of Homecoming, the community is also encouraged to incorporate a touch of purple and gold into their Friday outfits and share their Lassen pride on Susanville Click&Fix.The highlight of the week’s celebration will be the Homecoming Parade, set to take place on Main Street this Friday in collaboration with the city of Susanville. The community is invited to line the streets opposite Lassen High School and enjoy the festivities.The parade will showcase performances from the drill team, cheerleaders, and the drumline. Additionally, the Alumni of the Year will be introduced, along with the Homecoming Royalty for each grade level.Adding a creative twist, each class has chosen a movie theme for their float and skit. The Freshmen (Class of 2027) will bring Indiana Jones to Lassen County, while the Sophomores (2026) are interpreting The Goonies. The Juniors (2025) are exploring “A Whole New World” with Aladdin, and the Seniors (2024) are set to cap it off with a tribute to Captain Jack in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”To accommodate the parade, Main Street will be closed from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M., with the procession kicking off at 2:12 P.M. The parade route begins at the high school back parking lot entrance on Berkeley Street, continues down Main Street, and turns onto Foss Street. You will see the street closure expanded from Weatherlow down to Alexander during these times, and traffic will be diverted through side streets back to Main.
