Last year to Catch the Reno Air Races

Reno Stead Airport says farewell to the National Championship Air Races after the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority ends the partnership. This September will be your final chance to catch the show. The Air Races were founded in 1964 in Spanish Springs, before heading out to Stead, delivering spectacular air shows over six decades.

The Airshow has grossed 750 million in the local economy, contributed to aviation education, and brought in over 1 million spectators in the past ten air events.   Due to the economic conditions, rapid area growth, public safety, and the impact of the surrounding areas,  the airport had to end the partnership. The Reno Air Races will explore other venues to continue the joys of future shows.

The last event will hold displays of Stem Education, Military demonstrations, host 150 planes and pilots with hands-on displays, and the third year of the short take-off and landing drag. The event will be held September 13-17, 2023.
