The Lassen Superior Court is making it easier for people to pay fines related to infractions. The court is the latest California court to use MyCitations: an online option for those struggling to pay fines.
The new option has been made possible through the U.S. Department of Justice “Price of Justice Initiative” grant awarded to the Judicial Council of California in 2016, and Lassen County is now offering the tool to court users, allowing them to look up citations online and answer a few simple questions. You can even negotiate the amount you owe by submitting a request to the court for a possible reduction based on your financial situation.
Other payment options include asking for a payment plan, more time to pay, or even offering to pay your fine through community service.
This new option saves time and resources and allows the public to make requests without the need to appear in court. Before the implementation of this tool, only those who had previously made arrangements with the court would be eligible.
The MyCitations tool can be found on the Lassen Superior Court’s new website, www.Lassen.Courts.CA.gov. or reached directly at https://MyCitations.Courts.CA.gov
