Lassen National Forest Eases Park Fire Closure Boundaries with New Restrictions

In a major step toward reopening popular forest areas, the Lassen National Forest has trimmed down the boundaries of its Park Fire Closure zone,

Effective now through December 31, 2025, this order limits access within the specified Park Fire Closure Area to ensure public safety.

Under the new order, you are prohibited from entering National Forest lands, roads, and trails within the closure area, including specific sections of Ponderosa Way and the McClure Trail. Access is allowed only for those with special permits, emergency personnel, and property owners needing access to their land.

Violators could face fines of up to $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations or up to six months in jail. This order replaces an earlier one issued in August. More details on the closure area can be found on the Lassen National Forest website.
