Some big changes coming to Lassen Library, which has received a competitive 1.86 million dollar grant through the California State Library, as a nearly two-million-dollar grant will help improve the aging building.
After forming a special district to keep the county library alive after the county’s board of supervisors made the financial decision to defund the library in 1992, the Lassen County Local Agency Formation Commission was created and moved to thier existing building in 1997. No renovations have been made since, and are desperately needed. Library Director Heather Blevins said the funds would go towards updating the exterior and interior of the building. You can expect to see the much-needed renovations begin within the next several months through varying phases as the bidding process for contractors has just been opened.
