Lassen Jr. Livestock Auction Shatters Record at Fair with Impressive Sales

Another successful year for the Jr. Livestock Auction, making record-breaking achievements at the Lassen County Fair, raising an impressive sum of over $443,000. The auction featured an array of livestock, including lambs, broiler chickens, market goats, meat duck pens, geese, market steers, dairy steers, turkeys, pigs, and rabbits.

The event showcased the incredible support of the community and surrounding areas for the youth of Lassen County. Among the highlights, Lassen Rents purchased the Grand Champion Market lamb from Lily Ammon, Susanville FFA, and Hat Creek Construction, and Ed Staub & Sons acquired the Reserve Grand Champion lamb from Maddi Johnson of Susanville FFA.

Kevin Halmos from Herlong FFA exhibited the Supreme Grand Champion Poultry meat pen, and Ella Hopkins from Susanville FFA displayed the Reserve Champion poultry pen. Paige and Carlee Parker from Richmond 4-H excelled in the market goat sale, with Paige’s goat fetching the highest bid.

The Junior Livestock Auction demonstrated the community’s commitment to supporting the next generation of agriculture leaders, and the participants expressed their gratitude for the tremendous support received.
