One Lassen Supervisor is Rallying Support for Home Insurance Solutions in the wake of thousands of more policies set to be non-renewed by summer.

This week, it was another blow for California homeowners as State Farm, California’s largest home insurer, announced it will not renew over 72,000 home insurance policies.

This only adds to the mass exit of many California insurers, leaving homeowners struggling to find affordable insurance options. Lassen Supervisor for District 5 Jason Ingram, an active voice on the issue over the last year, hopes to make waves in efforts to find a solution to the crisis.

Ingram says he is currently talking with other county supervisors about “bringing an orchestrated effort to Sacramento.” He is even calling on the Lassen County Association of Realtors this week to gain their support. Ingram believes there’s power in numbers and hopes a strong rally at the State Capitol would get the state’s top Legislature’s attention to start making changes to find a solution.

Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Laura called it a “real Crisis”, according to Eyewitness News, which also says Laura plans to look at the company’s finances “but says it’s a delicate balance to keep them in California.”

Homeowners being dropped are resorting to the Califronia Fair plan. Yet, Commissioner Laura added that if your State Farm policy is not renewed, you can contact the California Department of Insurance. His office will ensure an insurance expert helps you through the process and connects you with companies that are still writing policies in the state.
