The results are in, it was another successful year for the Lassen Jr. Fishing Derby. Nearly 130 children from two to 15 participated in hopes of catching the biggest fish of the day.
Taking first in the age 2 to 5 category was Trent McLaughlin and Sloane Eck, who also won the biggest fish award with her 3lb 12oz, 19.5in trout, winning herself a custom-made rod.
Taking first in the age group 6 to 15 were Gracelyn Childers and Seamus O’Sullivan.
The well-loved event is hosted by the Lassen Sportsmen Club held each spring before opening day when the weather allows. This year’s event was postponed due to a historical winter that brought unsafe river conditions due to high flows, yet the delay did not stop the most dedicated who turned out for the 34th annual Jr. Fishing Derby.
