Susanville’s Interim Police Chief, Bollinger, addressed and dispelled rumors regarding a former Lassen High School student’s alleged threats to the school.
In an open statement released yesterday, Chief Bollinger declared that the supposed threat, slated to occur during today’s assembly at the high school, has been deemed ‘unsubstantiated.’ The school and police department were initially alerted to the threats on November 6th, prompting officers to make contact with the suspect and dismiss any legitimacy to the claims.
However, misinformation about the incident began circulating on social media. Chief Bollinger emphasized in the statement to the community that this information is untrue and is causing ‘undue stress in [the] community and student body.’
The department confirmed that they have followed up on these concerns with the school administration. They assert that this is consistent with the prior investigation conducted in November and remains unsubstantiated.
Lassen High School’s Principal, Dr. Lynn, informed parents that since receiving the threat of a potential shooting at the high school last week—prompting an immediate law enforcement presence—staff has been in daily contact with authorities throughout the week. To ensure the safety and security of students and staff on campus, Dr. Lynn stated that additional patrol, security, and administration will be present during today’s assembly and throughout the remainder of the semester.
