With triple-digit heat expected to grip the region this weekend, power outages are in the forefront of many minds, though LMUD says otherwise. Last year the area saw significant flex alerts calling on homes to reduce energy use. Yet, those on the Lassen Municipal Utility District’s grid were not subjected to weather-related outages—Theresa Phillips with Lassen M.U.D. says the Cal-ISO issues the brownouts which affect PG&E yet LMUD is not subjected to the outages but will be asked to conserve. Theresa adds you can help reduce your energy use by setting thermostats to 78 degrees, running major appliances outside of peak usage times, and minimizing baking in ovens to reduce heat in your home.
The excessive heat warning is in place from Saturday through Sunday, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.
