There’s been a shake-up in the Lassen Humane Society as half the board resigns in an overnight move. The mass exodus includes the former President, treasurer, and three newly elected members.
The current President of the Lassen Humane Society, Ken Bunch, said none of the members were voted off the board or asked to leave, adding that “The current board actions are in compliance with the legal advice of the Lassen Humane Society attorney. The former board members revealed copies of their resignation letters that cite the reason for departure was due to a conflict of interest with one board member and non-compliance with the law, despite the findings from legal counsel that say otherwise.
Board President Bunch says, despite the departure, “The current board will be going forward with an improved community feral cat program and a better spay and neuter program for cats and dogs.”
A meeting will be held this month, and the community is encouraged to attend. Meetings are held at 5 pm in the Board of Supervisors Chambers on Nevada Street in Susanville.
