The Grand Sierra Resort, Hotel, and Casino in Reno is about to embark on an ambitious 10-year billion-dollar expansion.
Starting Tuesday, the GSR will begin with the closure of the Grand Adventure Land.
The billion-dollar expansion plan will be the largest in the city’s history, set to include a new 10,000-seat sports, concert, and special events arena. There are also plans for a 140-acre residential area to address workforce housing shortages, complete with water shows like those seen in Vegas.
In a press conference, Owner Alex Mereulo said, “The vision is to transform GSR into a destination where community, sports, and entertainment come together.”
The resort hotel will partner with the University of Nevada to become the home of the men’s basketball team, which could begin its season in 2026.
