Good Samaritans help a driver escape flames after the vehicle catches fire from colliding with a tree. On Friday afternoon Stacy Brewer age 55 of Los Molinas in his Dodge 3500 was speeding down the highway west of the Lassen national park entrance on SR 36 when he began to quickly approach another vehicle directly in front of him. Yet he was traveling too fast and his breaks locked up forcing his vehicle to spin and leave the highway striking a tree. The Dodge continued rotating, overturned, and collided with another large tree where it came to rest on its side. CHP reports the Dodge quickly began to smoke and catch fire, and other travelers stopped to help. They were able to break the front windshield out and help Brewer out of the Dodge. The Dodge became engulfed in flames shortly thereafter. Fire crews from Lassen National Forest Service, Cal-Fire, and Mineral Fire responded and were able to contain and put out the fire. Brewer sustained only minor injuries. Alcohol is not a factor in this collision.
